The Master Directing Program (MDP) offers Professional Training in Feature Film Directing, Producing, Financing, Script Development, Post Production, and Guarantees the Opportunity to Direct a Feature Film for worldwide release. 6-9 Month Development Phase
2-3 Month Preproduction Phase
During the Development Phase, as Master Directing Students develop skills in Directing Actors and the Camera they concurrently engage in Screenplay Acquisition, Development, Previsualization, Scheduling, Budgeting, Casting, and Film Financing Workshops that lead toward each MDP Student launching their Feature Film production via the Preproduction Phase that follows.
During this phase, as Directing Students continue to Develop Skills in Directing Actors and Directing the Camera, they begin to collaborate with Professional Producers and Crew Members on their Feature Film's Production Design, Cinematography, Locations, Budget, Schedule, and other logistics. Final casting choices are also made during this Phase, as Directors collaborate with their ensemble Cast Members during their initial Read-throughs and Rehearsals.
1-2 Month Production Phase
3-6 Month Post Production Phase
By the end of Preproduction, Directing students have gained the knowledge and experience to walk and talk like Directors. Fully Prepared and Supported by Professional Crews they confidently take the helms of their Films knowing that such support and preparation can only produce professional results. And does. Our Films never look like student films because they're made by professionally trained Student Directors, who are supported by crews of working Professionals.
During this Phase, Directing Students not only collaborate with Film Editors in Achieving the "Director's Cut" of their Feature Films, they may optionally participate (Tuition-Free) in their Film's concurrent Editing Workshop, which includes Training in FINAL CUT PRO or AVID Editing Systems, and progresses from Basic to Advanced Editing Techniques, to dealing with various Post Production Services, such as ADR, Foley, Music, and Mix.
